4 Installation and files

4.1 File locations#

A standard installation uses these paths:

Path Contents
/opt/trustserver/sbin/databbix Daemon executable.
/opt/trustserver/lib64 Trustserver libraries and Oracle client.
/opt/trustserver/modules/databbix Modules (query engines, languages, authentication engines).
/etc/databbix/databbix.conf Global daemon configuration.
/etc/databbix/dbs/ One .conf file per monitor.
/etc/databbix/query*.xml Query definition files.
/etc/databbix/tnsnames.ora Oracle connection aliases.
/etc/databbix/odbc.ini ODBC data sources.
/etc/sysconfig/databbix Environment variables for the service.
/var/log/databbix/ Log files.

4.2 Bundled query files#

The distribution includes several ready-to-use sample XML files:

File Use
query.xml Oracle (default file).
query-mt.xml Oracle multitenant (CDB/PDB).
query-ora-9.xml Oracle 9.
query-pg.xml PostgreSQL.
query-pg-9.xml, query-pg-10.xml Queries specific to PostgreSQL versions.
query-pg-bareos.xml Bareos catalogue on PostgreSQL. Always used together with query-pg.xml*.
query-mssql.xml Microsoft SQL Server (through ODBC).
query-db-jde.xml JD Edwards database (Oracle, DB2/400 or SQL Server). If JDEDB is set, it is used together with the file declaring the ContextName context*.
query-jde.xml, query-ais.xml JD Edwards and AIS REST services.
query-soap.xml SOAP service example.
query-mqtt.xml MQTT broker.
query-emcunity.xml, query-sagex3.xml Other web services.
zabbix_templates.xml Related Zabbix templates.

*Files that depend on another one.  query-pg-bareos.xml does not declare the Database context it uses: query-pg.xml does. Likewise, query-db-jde.xml uses the context given by the ContextName variable (Container by default, declared in query-mt.xml; Database, in query-pg.xml or query-mssql.xml). Since a context must be declared before it is used, the file that declares it must come first in the QueryFile lines:

[General]
QueryFile = /etc/databbix/query-pg.xml # declares the Database context
QueryFile = /etc/databbix/query-pg-bareos.xml   # uses it

4.3 Environment variables#

The service reads /etc/sysconfig/databbix. These are the usual variables:

TNS_ADMIN=/etc/databbix           # tnsnames.ora directory
ODBCINI=/etc/databbix/odbc.ini # ODBC data source file

The systemd unit also adds LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/trustserver/lib64.
