8 Zabbix configuration
For Databbix to collect data for a host, do the following in Zabbix:
Create the host with its Host name equal to the monitor’s
General.Name. Case matters.Create the items (or import a template, for example those in
zabbix_templates.xml) of type Zabbix agent (active). The key of each item must match thenameattribute of an<item>in the XML files. If
PassivePortis configured, add an agent interface with that port to be able to use passive items such asagent.ping.Allow the Zabbix server or proxy to accept connections from the Databbix machine on port
10051.
8.1 Item keys#
The key entered in Zabbix has the form:
item.name[parameter1,parameter2,...]
item.nameselects the<item>in the XML file and, with it, the query that is run.Parameters are assigned by position to the query’s
<parameter>elements according to theirorderattribute (the first one isorder="1").Parameters are separated by commas only and leading and trailing spaces are removed. Quotes are not interpreted, so a parameter cannot contain commas.
Examples:
tez.ora.sessions query without parameters
tez.ora.tspace.pctfree[USERS] FILTER query by tablespace
tez.pg.param[max_connections] BIND query
tez.mssql.fgspace.used[sales,PRIMARY] context (database) + filter
tez.ora.tspace.discovery discovery rule
8.2 Internal items#
The following keys need no query in the XML files:
| Key | Value |
|---|---|
agent.ping |
Always 1. |
agent.version |
Databbix version, for example databbix-2.5.0-2639. |
agent.hostname |
Host name (General.Name). |
tez.ora.ping |
Status code of the connection to the data source (0 if there is no connection). |
Any other key not defined in the XML files is returned to Zabbix as not supported.
